Celtic 3 - 0 Rangers: Celtic Continue Dominance Over Rangers

Published on 1st September, 2024

Celtic delivered a commanding performance to secure a 3-0 victory over Rangers in the first Glasgow Derby of the season. Early goals from Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi set the tone, before captain Callum McGregor sealed the win with a stunning effort.

The Hoops thought they'd broken the deadlock at the 10-minute mark when Kyogo found the net, only for VAR to rule out the goal for offside in the buildup. However, they didn't have to wait long to make their dominance count. Paulo Bernardo orchestrated a slick move involving Alistair Johnston, whose cross was cleverly left by Kyogo for Maeda to smash home.

Celtic's second came just before halftime via a moment of brilliance from Kyogo. Receiving a pass from Greg Taylor, Kyogo unleashed a powerful strike from 30 yards that left Jack Butland with no chance.

The second half saw Celtic maintain their grip on the match, with McGregor delivering a captain's goal to put the game beyond doubt. His strike from distance was one for the highlight reel.

With this victory, Celtic go five points clear at such an early stage, while Rangers drop to 4th in the table.
